Barton began his legal career before founding Baron Metzler Family Lawfirm in 2015 in Toronto, where he and his husband have raised their young family. Since 2010, Barton has focused on collaborative family law, working closely with other collaborative professionals to help separating couples resolve parenting, property, and financial issues outside of court. He believes deeply in the value of this cooperative, forward-focused process, which promotes understanding and stability for all family members.
In addition to his family law practice, Barton assists clients with estate planning and estate administration, helping them prepare wills and powers of attorney, and guiding families through the legal steps following a loved one’s passing. his clients appreciate his calm, empathetic approach, practical advice, and genuine commitment to achieving fair, lasting outcomes.
Rooted in his Toronto upbringing, Barton values integrity, community, and connection. Outside his practice, He enjoys reading, attending the theatre, and spending time with his husband and two children.
Seth Casarez, Barrister & Solicitor
Seth Casarez is a family and estate lawyer at Baron Metzler Family Lawfirm, where He helps clients navigate separation, divorce, and estate planning with empathy, honesty, and practical guidance. his practice focuses on family law, collaborative family law, and wills and estates, allowing him to support families through both transition and planning with care and clarity.
Seth joined Baron Metzler Family Lawfirm in 2020 after completing his law degree at Western University, where He concentrated his studies on family and estate law. That same year, Seth completed his collaborative law training, and He now works closely with clients and other professionals to help families reach respectful, sustainable resolutions outside of court. He values the collaborative process for its focus on communication, problem-solving, and preserving family relationships.
Clients appreciate Seth’s calm, grounded approach and his ability to provide clear direction during emotionally charged times. Whether assisting with parenting and property issues or guiding clients through wills and estate matters, Seth is committed to helping families find balance, stability, and peace of mind.
Seth lives in Toronto with his husband, two young children, and several mischievous pets. Outside the office, He enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors with his family.
Lloyd Rocha, Law Clerk
Lloyd joined Baron Metzler Family Lawfirm in October 2021 as a Family, Wills and Estate Law Clerk. He has over ten years of experience working in Family Law and is a graduate of the Law Clerk program at Fanshawe College. Lloyd enjoys assisting our clients through their family law or wills and estates matters, and excels at clear, concise communication with clients, always happy to answer questions.
He loves spending time outdoors at the beach and camping.
